How to make SVG with Inkscape

Inkscape is a free software that allow you to create SVG from scratch, meaning you can draw or use simple shapes to do your design, but you can also vectorize some pictures.

For this tutorial I will show you how a made a SVG for a Birthday Card from using shapes and basic functions in Inkscape.

  1. I created rectangles of different sizes
  2. I aligned them using center on vertical axis
  3. Then I attached all the rectangles using Path/Union
  4. I created circles of same size that I aligned horizontally and organized with the option “distribute equidistantly”
  5. Then I attached all the circles using Path/Union
  6.  I drew a rectangle to use it to cut in half the circles
  7. For this I used Path/Intersection
